Zionism = Facism ?

Posted in Heathenism, Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , on October 16, 2011 by Harmony041297

Just got done watching a video on Youtube

It really brought some things I have been thinking about for a while to the surface.

Our society spends a lot of time and money producing entertaining mediums to tell us how reprehensible the Nazi party’s Aryan ideals were.

It shows us horrific visions of concentration camps and torture. It shows us the angry fuhrer shouting like a demoniac and a wild crowd of cultists cheering him on.

But it seems strangely quiet in redressing the atrocities being perpetuated by the same Zionists that would shout down the Aryan philosophies. Why is it that the United Nations declared Zionism a racist ideology in 1975, only to repeal that ruling in 1991?

To understand the Zionist threat we must first understand Zionism.

Zionism had a diverse and widespread origin, making it hard to generalize one place or time. The geographical region it seems to have originated in is Central and Eastern Europe.

All across the European continent anti-semitic feelings prevailed. Whether it was due to economic reasons, as it generally was in Russia and Germany, or for Religious reasons, as it seemed to be in other areas of the world, the Europeans were tiring of the “Chosen” people’s presence in their communities.

It was during this time in the early 19th century that the Jewish communities in Europe began to seek to address the problem their people were facing. While some Jews favored assimilation, many began to develop reactionary ideologies such as Zionism.

Just as Fascism developed from a perceived, perhaps real cultural threat, so to did Zionism develop to answer the burgeoning threat of anti-semitism.

This tit-for-tat explanation has often been used to justify the Jews for holding their Zionist beliefs. I find this to be a pragmatic truth. They are justified for seeking their own cultural self-determination.

Didn’t see that one coming did you? I believe all ethnic groups have a right to seek cultural self-determination. I believe all races have the biological primary directive to reproduce and prosper and dominate their ecosystem.

I also believe that the Germans had every right to attempt to purify their homeland and to seek to safeguard their culture from the influences of a Stranger people. Just as the Jews in Israel are doing today by building their wall.

We as Aryans must realize that that which sets us apart from the Stranger Folk is more than skin color. It is deeper than the color and texture of your hair. It runs in your blood and links us to our peoples’ original ancestors which are the Shining Ones. Our culture, our language, our history, our blood. These things are what make us Aryan and we have a Natural Right to defend that lineage, that Othila our sacred enclosure and our birth right.

We must cease to support a Stranger people in their course of self-determination and cast aside the religious shackle that was formed to yoke our fate to theirs – Christianity.

We as Aryan folk must return to our Father Odin and to the traditions that will strengthen our souls and fortify our bodies and minds.

We have a right to follow our genetic inheritance, to embrace the chilling autumn wind as it howls from the hallowed halls of our Northern forebears. The murder-frosts made us strong, let us not become weak in the balmy summerland of our modern lives. Do not give in to the Zionist. Resist the Oligarchy and the Jewish slave master.

Frith.

Post Card from the Rabbit Hole: Entheogens

Posted in Heathenism, Uncategorized on January 7, 2011 by Harmony041297

Hey all, sorry for my long absence, I have been a very busy Heathen practicing the virtues of self-reliance and industriousness – in other words I have been breaking my back! Work has left little room for much else than sleeping and eating. However, the war is won and I have received a promotion that while requiring equal or more hours, will be less physically strenuous so perhaps I will have the meggin to be able to dust off the old keyboard and get back to writing!

I have entitled this posting as such for a reason. Over the last summer I had the opportunity to consume psilocybin mushrooms in a ritualized fashion for the purpose of receiving spiritual understanding. The experience was the strangest I have ever had, and it seems to have changed the very ego-self that I call “me”. The jury is still out to whether this change has been for the better or the worse. I am less happy than I was before the experience, but then again, I am also more mature, less given over to fantastical thinking – more pragmatic. Strange that a hallucinogen, the stuff of psychedelic rock’n’roll and hippy infamy, could actually straighten out a youngster like myself.

I cannot explain in words to you, dear readers, what the trip was like, simple english does not do it justice. Suffice it to say, if you have ever eaten them, you know what I am talking about. After choking down the foul crunchy things and drinking about a gallon of orange juice I found myself in a world that was so beautiful, so alive and enthralling that I was filled with a childlike joy and energy, tearing my shirt off and running through the woods, getting nose to nose with boulders and listening intently to what they had to say. I wanted to climb a tree and never re-enter the world of humans. Indeed I felt a distinct loathing and fear of humanity, and this loathing has remained.

The sun hung like a golden god above us, casting down palpable shafts of amber caresses. The world was alive. . .really alive! I think that was the deepest and most profound awakening I had. Sure I, like and good Heathen, had theologically held that the Earth was a live, theoretically a self-aware entity, I worshipped Jorth and poured beer and buried wheat in Her honor, but I didn’t know that She was alive, beyond a reasonable doubt, I still held my skepticism that living in our modern age has infected all of us with. So, seeing her living, breathing, thinking – that was revelatory! To see the twisting draconid shapes in the storm clouds, and see. . .really  see   the sinuous elemental beasts that rule the air and winds.

Of course there were dark revelations as well. I saw with the same certainty man’s animal nature, our small and insignifigant part in the cellular make-up of our mother Jorth. I saw through the hyperbole of humanity, how foolish and insane all these little specks of life were, running about declaring themselves godlet of this tradition, or high king of this nation. Our pretension knows no bounds, nor does our cruelty or our wrathful destruction of the very Mother that sustains us. Mankind has taken itself out of context, and seeking the do the same to everything around it. How then, shall we know how to live, without context or natural purpose?

The mushroom messenger showed me the animal, plant and elemental kingdoms, but it showed me nothing of our Shining Ones, I saw no Gods, recieved no comforting messages from the dieties I thought knew me so well. As I said, I was given over to fantastical thinking before, now I understand that the Gods dwell within us, they are the noetic power of the collective human soul in all it’s beauty and all it’s horror. Mother Jorth is here among us, every day. She is closest, to her bosom we can literally crawl and find succor. Please, fellow humans. . .don’t rape your mother.

In closing, the focus of this blog will shift slightly from a “let’s all stroke our egos while we eloquently slash each other up in debate” to “let’s get real”, the blog is going to be about Heathenism, about the issues and so forth, but it is also going to be about larger things, like how our religion should be effecting the world, or why the current consumer culture of the Global Economy is going to be the death knell of our species.

I think entheogens are useful and powerful and should be considered a step in reaching understanding, but these plants should be approached with utmost respect and healthy fear, for every time you consume one of these plant guides, you offer up your personality indeed your entire Self to the altar of sacrifice. Learn from Odhinn, pluck your eye out, hang from the tree, seek wisdom, but do so with care if you love your Self too much.

Ethnocentrism, isn’t that – like. . .racism?!

Posted in Heathenism with tags , , , , on August 31, 2009 by Harmony041297

Ethnocentrism seems to be somewhat of a hot-button word in certain scholarly Pagan circles I run in. I merely let it drop from my lips and I see people squirm as if the mention made them pucker a bit.

Therefore I want to discuss what ethnocentrism means within Reconstructionist Polytheism. Ethnocentrism merely means “focused on one’s ethnicity”. Many beliefs and practices are ethnocentric.

For instance, the African Diasporic religion of Ifa is ethnocentric. Attend one of their rituals and you will not see Catholic saints venerated, nor will you see feasts of hot-dogs and french-fries offered to their Gods (Orishas). You won’t sing a Psalm, nor will you cast a circle thrice about. Their practices, beliefs, and memes are African, and this makes sense because they are, after all, an African religion.

When a Reconstructionist Polytheist says they are “ethnocentric” they are merely saying that they are focused and centered in the praxis and beliefs of their faith’s ethnic origin. An Asatruar follows only Teutonic philosophies and practices, a Celtic Reconstructionist follows only Celtic beliefs. This does not mean these groups are racist or wish to exlude others from practicing with them. It only means that if you are an Asatruar, then your philosophy and beliefs must revolve around the Teutonic ethos, there is no room for grab-bag specials or magpie eclecticism. The very word “Asatru” means “Faithful to the Aesir”, so, be faithful.

However, those practicing such ethnocentric faiths in the “Great Melting Pot” of America have a dillemma to face sooner or later: they don’t live in Iceland, Germany, Sweden or any other such country of origin. They live in America, where the land-spirits are different, the spiritual onlays are unique and the cultures differ vastly. Some in the Reconstructionist communities have reacted with seperatist notions, suggesting building an intentional community where the “folkway” can be kept pure.

I think this is fantastical reactionism. We needn’t cloister ourselves away, high atop a mountain to understand our ethnic Gods. We needn’t exclude wisdom from other cultures or ethnicities. I count among my dear friends and elders a Santeria practitioner, a South American medicine woman and other voices of cultural diversity. I have found that, while discussing things with them, learning from them, I discover new facets of my own folkway heretofore hidden in the fog of genetic memory.

Examine the practices of Palo, Santeria, New Orleans Voodoo, Southern Hoodoo, Appalachian Granny Magic, and Braucherie, and you will see how peoples before us have met the challenge of the “Melting Pot”. Each and every folk practice mentioned has a startling amount of eclectic hodgepodge contained within, however, these folk traditions have maintained their ethnocentrism. Santeria is very Hispanic, New Orleans Voodoo is very African, Braucherie is very German. The secret these folk traditions hold is that it is possible to be American, to thrill in and love the melting pot and all it’s wonderful resources, while still remaining true to your Gods and your beliefs.

One can still be Asatru and drink Tequila at Sumbel, one can still be Celtic Recon and curse an enemy with chili peppers. It is how the extant cultural influences are channelled and put to use that divides the magpies from the ethnocentrics. It is about mindset and internal philosophy. One must always ask, how would my ancestors interpret and utilize this new thing into their practices?

The only way to truly and correctly answer this question is to first make oneself wise and well-versed in ancestral thought. Read all the myths, stories and folktales, read all the historical and anthropological data one can find. Immerse yourself in the culture of choice, only then can you navigate the cultural labyrinth of America without stumbling.

Heathen Revival: Tribal Integrity in a Cultural Swamp

Posted in Heathenism with tags , , , , , on April 17, 2009 by Harmony041297

First off, let me say I love my friend, Coloradocelt and his blog. His thoughts fire me up either in sympathy or in opposition, either way he gets me thinking and I appreciate him for that.

I was reading his blog today http://coloradocelt.wordpress.com and was inspired to write the following post, partially as a response to the musings found there, and partially as a systemization of my own thoughts.

He brings up a wonderful point in Head Knowledge, Heart Knowledge and Pagan Reconstructionism, which I will refer to as the “geographical argument”. It could be states thus: We live in a world and society so far removed from our ancestors’, why attempt to reconstruct the belief systems of the past when many are outdated or irrelevant?

I think this is a valid concern, and one that needs to be addressed by all the philosophers and thinkers that make up the Recon/Traditionalist community. I began to address Reconstructionism in a previous blog and I think I explained well enough there how Reconstructionism came about, so I will not reiterate it here. This blog will be devoted to exploring the question of: “Where do we go from here?”.

So, here we are, we have read the Havamal and Poetic Edda a thousand times, we have discussed the importance of this runestone or that brooch, we have debated how a viking helm ended up in a bog in Wales and exhausted all the new archaeological findings. . .now what do we do? Well, if debating anthropology and history has ceased to water your spirit, and you begin to look deeper into the Well of Urdh and thirst for the mysteries of the Gods how do you apply the majik? Does a fifteen-hundred year old grimoire address the problems of today? I doubt the Goetia or the Cyprianusbok really tells you what you should do ritually when your rent is late, or you are struggling with an unfaithful lover. Knowing the four Fylgja of Iceland will probably not help your tap into the unique energy of your homeland, especially if you live in Vinland (America).  Where can we turn for inspiration for building a culturally correct yet modern folk-majik tradition? Well, we needn’t look very far.

In New England, specifically Pennsylvania, there is a thriving folk-majik tradition called Powow, Braucherie, or Hexcraft. It is the indigenous witchcraft traditions of the German immigrants, consisting of old Heathen lore, Lutheran Christianity and Cherokee medicine practices. While many of it’s spells are far too Christianized to be of any use to a Heathen, they can serve as a guide and inspiration, showing us the way to creating a syncretic system that doesn’t try to ignore the manifold cultural elements of Americana, but absorbs them and re-translates them into a Heathen worldview.

Let’s face it, as much as we would like to say that we are pure descendants of the Scandi, Jutes, Angles, or Saxons. . .we aren’t. Most of us in America are a wonderful mix of peoples and ethnicities. Many of Irish descent also share First Nations blood, I know that my family is a European Heinz 57 with bloodlines hailing from Switzerland, Sweden, England, Scotland, Ireland and Germany. . .and these are only the ones I know about. There is a family story of one of our ancestors, a trapper and fur-trader in the late 1800’s who went missing and was found years later living with a First Nations tribe! They had offically adopted him into their tribe and when he was offered a ride back to “civilization” he demurred. What I am getting at is simply this: we cannot ignore the fact that we do not live in Germany, Sweden or Norway. We live in America, for better or for worse, so let’s stop pandering to escapism and seek to unite in sacred marriage our Blood and the Land.

The Landspirits are very important in Heathenism, and when the Land we live on is peopled by the spirit-races of the Native Americans’ Gods, we must take this into account. Instead of ordering majikal supplies from half-way across the world, let’s begin taking inventory of what our Americana offers us and mold it into an American Heathen syncretism.

For another example, I would like to take a look at Louisiana Voodoo and Southern Hoodoo. These folk traditions have had to adjust and reform according to cultural climate and society the African slaves found themselves in. Despite the outward appearances (Saints, Mass, Holy Water, etc.) Voodoo is still a very powerful way to work with the Haitian Loa. This tradition absorbed the extant cultural elements and put them to use to serve their Gods. . .something we as Heathens can do if we aren’t afraid of being called a fluff-bunny.

An example of this is my Runic Rosary. I personally love the aesthetics of the Rosary, and am absolutely in love with the use of beads as prayer and mediation aids, so I went to the craft store, bought some pony beads, chain and spacers and created a rosary. For a medallion I placed a Metal  Spiral and on each bead I burned a rune. I now have the entire futhark to utiseta with and do my chants. The imagery is thus: The spiral represents the unformed Chaos of the Guningagap, then Fehu – the Cosmic Mother Cow, Audhumla, then Uruz the Wild Male principle that culminates in Thurisaz – Ymir. And it continues on, teaching the entire cycle of the world in all it’s Ages even unto Ragnarok symbolized by Dagaz – the Dissolution. The beads then return to the Spiral and the world is remade with Fehu again.

We can build a strong and thriving folk tradition here in America, utilizing and re-orienting all the aspects of our culture into a Heathen perspective. Perhaps Red Chili Powder could be a good and useful herb to combine with Kaun, which we know from the Norwegian Rune Poem is a sore and a sickness in children. Perhaps Woden enjoys the scent of Orange Oil (I believe he does). How do we know that Idhunna wouldn’t like an Apple Martini?

My point is, that all the historical research in the world will not give you a hands-on up-close-and-personal experience with the Holy Powers. You cannot expect to live an empowered life if the Past is dictating what to do. The Past is very important, and history is our guide, but it should not be our slave-master. Let’s apply our vast knowledge of the Gods and the Lore and begin to build a religion that speaks to our cultural realities as American Heathens.

Woden: A Devotional Galdr

Posted in Heathenism on April 15, 2009 by Harmony041297

Writing to the void, I scribe runes upon lintels of doors, my windows covered in occult equations. I seep deep in my blueberry melancholy, wondering, ‘Where are you, hunter of my soul?’. I miss my wandering god, the wild huntsman who used to pursue like the shrieking tempest. I sit in bathroom uhtisetta, zen meditations upon porcelain thrones. Pipes groan and my inner-works respond in kind.

Midnight reveries of silent isolation, walking alone amidst crowds, swathed in a nimbus of blue cigarette smoke. I roam and and I seek, smiling at orphans and handing molding bills to beggars who reach out lustily. Coins rattle in a cup and for a moment my god overshadows the reeking piece of human refuse. I hasten to this divine street hobo, then weep in frustration. He has left this grimy man, leaving a confused drunken shell. I pour the last of my change into his cup, and I wonder on.

How far must I wander, Vegtam the Wanderer? How long must I hunt, Wise Huntsman? You know I shall trek to the ends of the earth, where the seas fall into the shrieking pits of dreams. . . and I do.  Yet I find only more emptiness and doubt.

Anger rises! Neon rage! I scream ink black imprecations into the purple plum midnight cathedral; only the stars respond, winking mockingly. Even your gimlet eye has left the Mimir Well of Sky. Blood pounds tense in my temples, like the blood once flowed in your Temples. Is this what you desire, oh vampiric lecher? Do you long for the days when bulls hung from your holy trees? Must I placate you with sacrifices of goats and men?

No. You have lost your taste for such things. You feed upon different things now, most holy Hanged God. Gallows Lord you beckon me within – seek the ingwaz freedom between life and death.

I sit by the slurping sea, watching it make shameless love to the shore, lapping at Earth’s intimacies with lustful abandon. My heart beats in my chest like a ticking time bomb, each pulse counting on my mortality. Then, in the white noise pollution of a polluted city I hear my blood speak. I know then that I may search the world and never find him, though I inspect every hollow and untainted grove. For if that which I seek I do not find within, I shall never find it without.

Growing Up: The Maturation of Reconstructionism

Posted in Heathenism on April 9, 2009 by Harmony041297

I was inspired to write this blog by my dear friend and his most recent publication: http://coloradocelt.wordpress.com/

In it he brought up some very real issues that face the Reconstructionist community. Being a Heathen, I felt I would post my own ramblings on the subject at hand: the maturation and growth of Reconstructionism in general, and specifically Heathenism, as this is my area of expertise.

In the Recon community, there seems to be a doctrinal vehemence against Unsubstantiated Personal Gnosis (UPG). Many within our communities look askance at the spiritual insights gifted to devotees as frivilous and vain self-aggrandizement. All I can say in regards to this disturbing trend is: STOP!

We cannot think to grow as a religion and spirituality if we stifle our seers, prophets and volvae! We must dig our roots deep in the lore, but realize that for our sapling religion to grow it must reach it’s branches towards the Heavens (and subsequently, the Gods).  UPG is a powerful and life sustaining gift, it is the water of the spirit realm, and without it we would surely shrivel and fade away.

I understand why this stigma was attached to UPG. In the days of neopagan infancy, there was a plague of charlatans, the spiritual marketplace was rife with con-artists selling High Priesthood for a buck and a blowjob. Thus Reconstructionism came about to address a community of spiritual seekers who wanted more than “channeled messages from Seth” and revisionist history lessons. Many found the conservative, scholarly approach to the Pagan revival a breath of fresh air. Many who founded this new movement had been hurt and damaged by the irresponsible teachings and internal politics of infant “witchdom”, and unfortunately passed these traumas onto the next generation in the form of dogmatism and rigid interpretations of the Lore. What began as a solution to one problem became  another. This post hopes to begin the dialogue required to reverse the damage done.

Many in the Reconstructionist communities have fled their overbearing Lore-thumping mentality, hoping to find solace in the arms of another tradition or spiritual pathway. Some of these refugees found the succor they sought, others discovered only more disappointment and atop this – lies and empty fantasy. Those who found no peace in the myriad “revealed”, “channeled” and “eclectic” traditions were doomed to wander the foggy roads of dismay and confusion, unable to believe the New Age psychobabble most NeoPagan groups are fond of, and unable to return to Reconstructionism for fear of being mocked for their visions.

Either way, our religion lost these bright stars. In the ancient times, those gifted with the Caul or Sight were honored, sent to be trained by the mystery schools and hailed as great intermediaries upon their return. Why then should we thin our ranks and weaken our spirituality by scorning the gifts of the Gods?

I am aware, that the Human mind is often vulnerable to fantasy, and am not suggesting that we Recons throw all our hard-won research away and embrace flights of fancy as truth. I am however saying that we must achieve a balance between the two extremes.

Our roots are the Lore, History and Folktale and we should never forget the lessons our ancestors teach, whispering through the dust-laden halls of time and tradition. However this does not mean that we cannot listen to our peers, elders and younglings. With discernment and wisdom we can continue to thrive, and our religion can live. Our Gods are not dead, they are not interred in the graves the Christian Church sought to dig for them. Nay, they thrive and prosper! They languish in our bones, sing in our blood and beat in our hearts! They are speaking to us all the time, in the soft whisper of an autumn wind, or the budding of the first flower in spring. Thor’s mighty hammer still flashes above us in the Heavens, and the Jotuns still quake at the sound of his thundering chariot! Shame on those who persecute they who would merely heed the call of their Elder Gods! Let not avarice or envy color our perceptions of these gifted siblings, but rather let us rejoice in the affirmation of our folkway and seek deeper communion with our Shining Ones.

So long as we utilize Wisdom and discernment, always being informed and edified by the Lore, we have nothing to lose in fostering the gifts of the Gods.

Fundamentalist Heathenism: Putting the “mental” back into Fundamental

Posted in Heathenism on March 9, 2009 by Harmony041297
1men·tal
Pronunciation:
\ˈmen-təl\
Function:
adjective
Etymology:
Middle English, from Late Latin mentalis, from Latin ment-, mens mind — more at mind
Date:
15th century
1 a: of or relating to the mind ; specifically : of or relating to the total emotional and intellectual response of an individual to external reality <mental health> b: of or relating to intellectual as contrasted with emotional activity c: of, relating to, or being intellectual as contrasted with overt physical activity d: occurring or experienced in the mind : inner <mental anguish> e: relating to the mind, its activity, or its products as an object of study : ideological f: relating to spirit or idea as opposed to matter2 a (1): of, relating to, or affected by a psychiatric disorder <a mental patient> (2): mentally disordered : mad , crazy b: intended for the care or treatment of persons affected by psychiatric disorders <mental hospitals>3: of or relating to telepathic or mind-reading powers
“Mental” has become a dirty word, many in America associate it with the second definition as listed by the Merriam Webster dictionary, ie “mad” or “crazy”. However the bulk of the definitions relate to one’s intellectual prowess and ability, something I have been seeing a disturbing deficiency of as of late amongst the online Pagan communities I haunt.
This observed disparity has inspired me to write a little about what I like to call Fundamentalist Heathenism, or Radical Heathenism. It is sad that logic, fact-finding and research should be in any way considered “radical” or “fundamentalist”, but such is the world we live in. Consider this a small manifesto for such a Radical Heathen movement, a statement of purpose and definition of allies and enemies.
RADICAL HEATHENISM: A MANIFESTO
Who, you may ask, is a Radical Heathen, how would one know if one were such a fellow? The answer to this is simple, if you read this manifesto, and agree with more than you take issue with, and if you dedicate yourself to understanding to the best of your ability what the Pre-Kristjan Teutonic tribal folkway consisted of, and how this may be translated into modern times, then you are a Radical Heathen. If you deny the validity of Kirstjanity in your theo(a)logy and excise it’s cancerous presence from your spirit and mind, then you are a Radical Heathen.
Radical Heathens are not regimented further than this. Apply the above principles and we welcome you into our fellowship
Radical Heathens are not racist, we are Tribal. We believe that returning the tribal consciousness of our antecedents is paramount, yet we do not anyone based on ethnic background, race or color. As long as they excise all other cultural infiltrations and devote themselves to the reconstruction of Teutonic beliefs, they are kinsfolk and are welcome. Radical Heathenism is not pluralistic nor is it multi-cultural beyond the largely homogenous cultures of the Teutons and Northern Gaels (ie Scotland, Switzerland, Northern Alps etc.).
Radical Heathenism recognizes Hearth and Home as the central unit of the faith, and family, folk, and clan are of highest import. Blood is thicker than water and one’s family should always be protected.

We who shall from henceforth be called Radical Heathens vehemently deny the validity or relevance of Kristjanity, it’s memes or dogmas, it’s doctrines and catechisms. We accuse, formally and forthwithe this “Body of Christ” of gross crimes against humanity and nature. Due to this construct’s domination, whole cultures have been destroyed, ecosystems vanished, and women enslaved to patriarchy. Thus we mimic the Icelandic Heathens in labeling their “Lamb of God” the Hvitakristr – The White (cowardly) Christ. This diety and his followers are our enemies and can expect no quarter intellectually or spiritually from Radical Heathens.

There is only one exception to be discerned by each individual based on their precise situation. If one’s family is of the Kristjan faith, it is up to the Radical herself to determine the level of contact necessary to uphold the previous exhortation. None shall judge a Radical Heathen who declares said Kristjan relations Nidhingardhr (banished) and refuses contact with them. However it would be better for the cause should some contact be maintained, as a family member of Radical Heathen bent would be a great educational resource to the devotees of the Hvitakristr.
Radical Heathens should pursue social ministry as prison chaplains, soup-kitchen volunteers and participate in all manners of charity works. These activities serve two purposes. First and foremost it is viewed as an offering to the Shining Ones, and an act of goodfaith to the larger society. Secondly these practices shall ingratiate the Radicals to society, thus opening their minds to our cause.
Radical Heathens should be activists in whatever manner they are capable of. They should battle ignorance wherever they find it, by writing letters to the papers, senators and other politicians, by rallying for equal rights, and by extoling the virtue of scholarship to the Pagan society as a whole.
Radical Heathens champion Truth as one of it’s Noble Virtues. In a world gone mad with subjective reasoning, the Radical Heathen must defend Truth and Non-Truth as it pertains to scholarly pursuits and religo-majikal dogmas. There are right ways and wrong ways to adress the Gods, and the Radical Heathen must be an eternal student, constantly seeking to ascertain the correct way.
Radical Heathenism is a “mutual admiration society”, and no commands are made that each and every Radical agree with and feel kindly toward another. It is expected that debate and conflict will arise amongst a group of intellectuals, and this is not to be despised, yet rather lauded, so long as these debates are perpetuated with Honor and Eloquence. No Radical Heathen will assassinate another’s character in a public forum, should two Radicals disagree, they can debate the matter via private communiques. If an agreement cannot be reached, the disagree parties must come to a truce, and cease to communicate if necessary for Frith.
Radical Heathens aspire to be known everything there is to know about everything, understanding that this is a herculean task and ultimately impossible. However if Radicals set the sights high, they will overachieve despite their failure.
A Radical Heathen’s understanding should not be limited merely to mythology, but should also continually expand to encompass knowledge of Pre-Kristjan society, music, war, sailing, and any other subject of interest to our ancestors. Not every Radical will be an expert in each of these fields, but they should all be an expert, or at least studying to be so, in at least one.
Much has been made of the “warrior ethos” of the Norseman, and Radical Heathens recognize this as one but certainly not the only emanation of the Teutonic spirit. This said, however, Radical Heathens should know how to fight. Refusing a fight or allowing oneself to be beaten without resistance is cowardly and white-livered. Radical Heathenism in no way encourages senseless violence or criminal activity, but each claiming the title of “Radical” should be ready and equipped to fight. Thus Radical Heathens are encouraged to engage in martial arts, boxing, or weapons training of some sort. This not only trains the body to react in a confrontation (thus preserving your Honor) but also engenders a mystical mind-body connection that is sadly and sorely missed in American culture.
Radical Heathens who wish to gather together should do so democratically with a leader chosen from the most knowledgeable of candidates. This leader should embody Radical Heathenry by living according to the Virtues, by devotion to the Lore and faith in the Gods.
Some may ask, what of those handicapped or otherwise unable to fulfill the dedication to the Virtue of “Strength”? I answer and say that one bound to a wheelchair is not necessarily less strong. Radical Heathenism recognizes strength of mind, of heart and of conviction. A true warrior embodies these as well as strength of arm. No one unable to engage in vigorous exercise and martial activities due to physical restrictions will be denied acceptance into Radical Heathenism. However those who are bodily capable of fulfilling these tasks and refuse will not be granted entry.
Radical Heathens seek in every moment to acend to the Nietchzean ideal of the Ubermensch, the Over-Man. Radical Heathens shall succeed in their outward appearance, whether they seek to be beautiful, straight-laced, punk or goth, they shall dress move and act in a superior manner. They shall not be slovenly in public and their actions should always represent that of a Radical Heathen.
Radical Heathenry does not regulate clothing styles or forms of expression, and accepts all sorts, from business women to goths, however Radical Heathenism does expect it’s members to be the best at what they do and how they dress. This extends into demeanor and how one carries oneself in public. Radical Heathens should at all times emanate the Virtues they live by, and should be informed by them.
